An amount of Rs. 400.00 lakh is provided in the Budget 2013-2014 undertake R&D activities to improve the coir sector as a whole including enhancing productivity in the sector, innovations in Mechanisation, creation of diversified coir products with high value addition, infrastructure development and improving facilities of NCRMI, training and other R&D activities of NCRMI. The provision shall not be used for salary, allowances and other administrative expenses of NCRMI
